Please review the following frequently asked questions about the 21st Symposium.
Question: Is there a shuttle from the airport(ORD) to the hotel? Answer: No. However, a taxi cab to the hotel is reimbursable on your travel claim. Answer: For presentations and the banquet, E6 and below are authorized to wear the new service (khaki and black) uniform or summer whites. E7 and above khakis. The Social on Sunday night is casual attire. Question: What does the registration fee cover? Answer: The registration fee is used to cover the symposium meeting/presentation facilities and the audio/visual requirements for the event. No meals, food or beverage is funded via the registration fee. Question: I am not going to be attending the Symposium, but would still like to become or renew my membership. How can I do this? Answer: You can download the membership application from the membership link on the NCA website. Mail it with your membership dues to the NCA National Headquarters at PO Box 15233, Norfolk, VA 23511-0233. The NCA Secretary will process your request and mail your membership card to the address provided on your application. Question: Do I need a rental car during the symposium? Answer: No. A rental car is not required during the symposium. The Symposium is held at the Renaissance hotel. If you are staying at the Hyatt, a shuttle will be providing transport to and from the symposium site. Question: I am a Navy reservist under NROWS orders planning to attend the Symposium, what is the procedure to submit my orders for Pay and Allowances? Answer: The following forms are required and will be collected by the Reserve point of contact at the registration desk during the symposium for all Sailors attending under NROWS orders. 1) NROWS orders (will be endorsed at the registration desk by the RESERVE POC): your Reserve Unit will be the funding command. Answer: Yes. All attendees, exhibitors and sponsors will need to check-in at the Symposium registration desk. At this time you will be given your Welcome bag and marked as present. During check-in members will receive their membership card and membership bag. Also this is where you will receive your tickets for the Ice Breaker social (complimentary) and banquet tickets (if you purchased them). Question: What happens if my command does not turn on my Government Travel Credit Card by 12 June? Answer: If your GTCC is not turned on by 12 June your registration fee will not be paid. If this happens you will have to pay at the Symposium manually. You will not be admitted into the General Assembly. Question: What credit cards will you accept for registration fees or items purchased at the NCA Ship Store? Answer: We will only accept Visa and Mastercard for payments or purchases. Question: Can I purchase annual or lifetime membership at the symposium? Answer: Yes. Anyone can purchase membership during the event. However, the NCA committees are able to get a better estimate of the new and renewing members if you purchase via the registration process online. Lifetime membership can only be purchased through your local chapter, national treasurer or at the symposium. Lifetime membership can only be purchased if you have the last five years in good standing and rates vary according to your at age at the time of purchase. Question: How do I know if I have five years of good standing with the NCA? Answer: You can email the National NCA Secretary at secretary@usnca.org. She will be able to assist you with that information. Question: Are there any special arrangements that I need to make if I would like to run for a national office this year? Answer: Yes. All national officers elected this year will need to arrange to stay in Schaumburgh through 21 June. This will allow for a proper turnover from the President, Vice President or Secretary. Question: I am a military organization that wants to have an exhibitor booth at the 21st Symposium. Who should I contact? Answer: All military and civilian exhibitors/sponsors need to contact the National Sponsor Coordinator, NC1 Lard at sponsor@usnca.org or 215-443-6330. Question: How do I submit a scholarship application? Answer: You can submit your scholarship application through your Local Chapter or directly to the National NCA President National Headquarters, P.O. Box 15233, Norfolk, VA 23511-0233.
